When you dispose of an old battery, make sure to place it in a child and pet-proof container immediately till the time you take it to a recycling center. Do not leave it on a counter or at any place where your kids or pets can find it. Do not throw them in a thrash can either.

It is not necessary to remove your hearing aid batteries at night. However, the best practice is to switch off the hearing aids and leave the battery compartment open while you are off to sleep for the night to release the moisture. Doing this will keep your battery safe and prevent it from rusting and damaging. You can also place the batteries in the dehumidifier to prevent them from getting damp.

Check the working condition of your hearing aid battery by inserting it into your hearing aid and closing the battery door. Keep your hand around the hearing device and hold it up to your ear. If the device is squealing, the battery is working fine.

Your hearing aid batteries need to be changed every three to ten days depending upon the hearing aid model and the level of usage.

It is not advisable to leave loose batteries as they can be hazardous if swallowed. Always store loose batteries in a protective case, plastic bag, or package to protect them from coming in direct contact with any metal objects such as coins, keys, or jewelry.

It is always advisable to wait around 5-7 minutes after opening the tab and not place the battery immediately. Doing so will enable the air to activate the battery completely and expand the battery life.
